Truly a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon, St. Louis-born modern R&B/Soul scribe Coultrain has been telling one consistent narrative storyline, of his protagonist Seymour Liberty, for nearly a decade now, across a half-dozen different releases. 'Side Effex' is (so far) his crowning achievement in the as-yet-unfinished story - the most concisely impactful installment yet, covering a myriad different emotions, from a shattering heartbreak to the (literal) enchantment of a new love, in just 6 songs. The project is produced in full by Black Spade, Train's partner in the duo, Hawthorne Headhunters. Aside from that, Coultrain is also known as a member of Bottle Tree (on International Anthem, with composer Ben Lamar-Gay) and for his collaborations with Waajeed's Platinum Pied Pipers project and Shafiq Husayn of SA-RA Creative Partners. A true "artist's artist," Coultrain has become a best kept secret that has inspired a whole new generation of innovative songwriters and storytellers.
