Essential Media Mod, Jazz, Toni Richards

An accomplished cabaret performer who lights up the stage with her charismatic presence and extraordinary voice, Camden, New Jersey native Toni Richards has regaled audiences in a wide variety of musical settings - from the intimacy of a small supper club to the grandeur of a Broadway stage. Richards has performed extensively as a cabaret singer, delighting audiences on the Northeast circuit, working mainly in Philadelphia, Atlantic City, and New York. While able to sing almost any musical genre, her favorite style is that of the iconic jazz singers of the 1930s, 40s and 50s, and the incomparable compositions of the Great American Standard Songbook. With a vocal quality that is temperate, soothing, and enchanting, Toni's singing style is superbly suited to the great jazz classics. Her emotive style has what it takes to bring the timeless standards to life, injecting a dose of warmth, style, elegance, and charm that can only be compared to the likes of Streisand, Sinatra, and Ella. Veteran producer Butch Ingram knew that she was ripe for the recording studio and suggested that Toni record an album of the jazz standards that she had honed in the nightclubs and concert stages over the past few years. He assembled a cast of seasoned musicians that would perfectly compliment Richards' sensitive and compelling voice, including local sax legend Don "Juan" Ward, key members of the Ingram Family Band and the legendary Society Hill Orchestra. The resulting album, "Dancing In The Dark," brings Ms. Richards exquisite voice front and center in a fitting tribute to the timeless songs of the Great American Songbook performed by a gifted vocalist who deserves to be heard. Presented here is the lead single from the album, the classic standard "Dancing In The Dark," which includes an instrumental version of the time-honored classic as a bonus.
